Collegiate Membership (MCFPS) by Election
Registration for MCFP(S) by Election 2024 has ended.
The MCFP(S) is the professional benchmark for recognition as Senior Family Physicians. It may be attained via one of 2 routes. Family physicians with GDFM must undergo the MCFP(S) by assessment, while those with MMed(FM) may be elected by interview.
Collegiate Membership of the College / MCFP(S) by Election
Eligibility:
The applicant must:
- Be an Ordinary Member of the College of Family Physicians Singapore
- Possess the Masters of Medicine (Family Medicine) degree awarded by the National University of Singapore
- Be active in attending CME and has been certified by SMC for the past 2 years
- Be actively involved in teaching Family Medicine in National Programmes (e.g. postgraduate training, undergraduate teaching in Family Medicine and tutorship in the Graduate Diploma in FM programme) for at least 20 hours a year, for the period of 1 June 2023 to 1 June 2024 ^
- Currently in active clinical practice i.e. 24 clinical hours per week, of which 8 hours must be in a family medicine setting as defined by the College Constitution
- Ambulatory care in the community
- Intermediate care in the community hospitals and rehabilitation centres
- Long term care in the nursing homes, residential care and home based care
- Hospice and home based end-stage diseases care
- Interface care which is care within acute hospitals in the interface with the other settings
^ From Y2024, a minimum of 5 teaching hours must be from GDFM and/or College MMed(FM) tutorship. (It is a requirement for all candidates to be formally appointed by the College of Family Physicians Singapore as a GDFM or MMed(FM) tutor)
Requirement:
- Be in professional good standing (with a letter of good standing signed off by someone with MCFP(S) or above).
- Submit an essay of not more than 500 words on:
- Your involvement in Family Medicine / journey in Family Medicine
- Highlight something particular about your role as a Family Physician
Award:
Candidates who successfully pass the exit interview will satisfy the conditions for award of the Collegiate Membership of the Family Physicians Singapore [MCFP(S)].
Fees:
The fee for MCFP(S) by Election is S$3,294.95** (inclusive of 9% GST).
