Obesity is now a global epidemic affecting developing and developed countries. It arose as a consequence of societal and environmental factors which promote weight gain.
Chronic diseases are now appearing in childhood and adolescence, and will contribute to future morbidity and mortality in adulthood. The primary goal of childhood and adolescent obesity interventions is to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviours, so as to decrease morbidity and mortality
